I'm not very good at sharing my feelings, or expressing myself, but I just feel the need to share my thoughts today. I was kind of in a slump yesterday, and my heart hurt because of backlash I was hearing and reading about from conference... and some of it from people that are members of the church. I felt one of the main themes from General Conference this last weekend was that apostles and prophets are called of God to receive inspiration and guidance for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in this day.
President Eyring summed up my thoughts with his talk when he said, "I know the servants of God who will speak to you during this conference. They are called of God to give messages to His Children."The Lord has said of them, 'What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, and I excuse not myself, and though the Heavens and the Earth pass away, my word shall not pass a way but shall all be fulfilled whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same.' You show your trust in him when you listen with the intent to learn, to repent, and then go and do whatever He asks. If you trust God enough to listen for his message in every sermon, song, and prayer in this conference, you will find it. And if you then go and do what he would have you do, your power to trust him will grow and in time, you will be overwhelmed with gratitude to find that he has come to trust you. I testify that God speaks today through his chosen servants in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints."
I specifically felt like there was a lot of backlash from President Packer's talk, but if you actually listen to his talk, you will realize that he is not stating anything different than what has been said before, and anything different than we have been taught in church meetings and in the temple. He is just simply stating again the principles and beliefs of our church as pertaining to the Plan of Salvation and the Proclamation to the Family. His talk was given to give peace and HOPE to those who are struggling that they can overcome the difficulties they bear. The gospel is a rock, and will not change for the ways of the world.
I just want to share my testimony with my family and friends that I know the Church of Jesus Christ is true. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet of God, and that he and his apostles have been given the authority to receive revelation from God, for our day, to help us to stand strong to what we believe and keep His commandments so that we can return home to Him some day and be together with our families for all eternity. This is the basis of the gospel, and this is True.

Thanks for posting about this. I have felt the same. I have been hearing such a backlash about Packers talk (mainly on facebook) and it has really gotten to me. Thanks for sharing your testimony :-) It made me feel much better.
