So many fish... So little time!!!

George Always teases me about being so into blogging, but I think he all of a sudden realized that blogging can be a great "bragging" tool. He's been asking me all weekend when I'm going to do my blog about our great weekend. Read on to see why :)

It’s getting warm outside again, which means one thing for George… It’s time to get started fishing. Since he doesn’t have text books to read for school anymore, he headed to the library to get something else to fill up his time. Of course, he came home with four huge fishing books, and some new green slime that you can dip your worms into and when you throw your worm into the water it puts out a strong scent to attract the fish.

But I’m starting to see why he likes fishing so much and it’s because he’s so dang lucky! He kind of has a knack for the whole thing. We went fishing with my old roommates and husbands Saturday morning, and besides the trout Janeal and Mindyn each caught, George was the only other one to catch fish, and he caught SIX!

Brian and George show off the first catch of the day!

After George caught his first fish, we were all determined to get one, so we went trudging out through the mud to find the perfect spot. George put a worm with green slime on my hook and I cast it out into the water, within SECONDS I had something tugging at my line, and it was strong. I was reeling in and pulling with all my strength when all of a sudden the hook popped free and flew right at me landing on some rocks and cracking the bobber. Luckily George was too excited to be mad that I broke his bobber. He gave me another line and threw his out to the same spot, and within seconds he had another small mouth bass on his line, which was even bigger than the first one he caught…. And it should have been mine! Dang he is lucky!!

Mindyn and Brian planned the camping/fishing trip to East Canyon Reservoir Friday night to kick off the summer. Despite the fact that the weather forecasts said “Rain all weekend” and the fact that it was, in fact, raining the entire way to the camp ground. “Mr. Positive,” George, who kept telling me, “Ashley stop being such a pessimist about the rain, once we get there, it’s going to clear up and will be nice the whole time we are there.” Just as we rolled into the camp ground George rolls down his window and says, “See!” And wouldn’t you know, the rain had just stopped, and the clouds rolled out leaving us with perfect weather the rest of the time we were there. Unbelievable!

Jana and Tom looking good in their fishing gear!!

Janeal and Andy... don't they make it look like it was warm outside??

Janeal, Ash, and Mindyn (Sacajawea) canoeing to shore. They boys didn't think we could make it because for some reason these boys think we can't canoe, fish, put up tents, etc... we proved them wrong this weekend.

Mindyn showed up all the boys with her trout.

Janeal got one too!!

But don't worry, George caught Six, and we are all very proud of him! Please congradulate him when you get a chance ;)

That looks like you guys had a bunch of fun! I'm glad you started one of these things, now we gotta get Mindyn into it. I hope we have many camping trips to come this summer.
