Our Favorite Spot

George and I have a favorite spot that we go to every year. It's up Butterfield canyon right above the Kennecot Copper mine. The view is spectacular, and you can actually see 7 temples from that one spot (Provo to Bountiful). Even though it's beautiful up there and we usually have the place to ourselves, the thing that keeps us going back every year is the fun memory we have of our first time going to "our Spot". It's one of those Ah Ha moments that really made me start to realize that George was perfect for me.

It all started exactly three years ago. It was the first week of August, a Friday night, and I had just been at work until about 8:00 getting my stuff done for our fiscal year end. We were really short handed that year, and I was still relatively new, so I was extremely stressed out. I came home from work that night exhausted and in tears, knowing that I had to go back to work on Saturday just so I would have enough time to get all of my stuff done. George had been checking in on me the whole night to see when I would be ready to play, and when he realized how stressed out I was, he told me he was coming to get me, and that he had a surprise for me. It did't take much for him to cheer me up, and he was cracking me up because of how funny and secretive he was about what we were doing. We started driving out West with the windows on the truck rolled down and the country music blaring, and made our first stop: Abs Drive in. We went through the drive through, and order 8 corn dogs and 4 large cups of ice water. It was SO random, I was just dying trying to figure out what we would be doing with so many corn dogs and water cups. We kept driving West, until we started heading up the Buterfield canyon (which I really had no idea that it existed). We drove all the way up to our spot, and that was it. That was the surprise.... eatting corn dogs up high on the mountian. I was still curious about why he needed so much ice water, and that's when he got a HUGE grin on his face... he was SO proud of himself for thinking of this... he went back to the back of his truck, pulled out a Microwave, and exclaimed, "Now we can have hot chocolate!" HAHA It was so funny that he thought he could run the microwave off of the car. I love how random and spontaneous he can be, and he always seems to know just what to do to pull me out of my bad moods and make me laugh. I look forward to all the funny George moments to come.
