COLORADO!

Since George was going to be at scout camp the week of the 4th, Max and I decided we would fly to Colorado to play for the week instead of being stuck home alone. I convinced my little sister, Alison, to move there last year when she was graduating and looking for jobs and in doing so promised that I would come visit her often... so this was me keeping my promise. The timing was perfect too because my college roommate, Chelsey, happened to move back to Colorado the week before we arrived, and she and Eric were so nice to let us crash at their unpacked new house for the week.
Max handled the flight like a pro. We lucked out with an extra seat on the way there, and he fell asleep in my arms on the flight back. I thought it would be a good idea to keep him busy on the flight with a sucker, but that just turned out to be one of the biggest stickiest messes ever!

For the fourth of July, we hiked Devil's peak with Travis's parents. Travis and his dad were nice to take turns carrying Max in the backpack because he is getting to be a big boy!

Max was entertained by Aunt Alison in the back seat. I think he liked having company with him in the back seat.

While Alison and Travis were at work, I spent my days catching up with Chelsey and watching Max and Weston bond. I think Max enjoyed having an "older brother" for the week to copy and to laugh at when he would growl at the dog. Here is some of the fun we had:

Swimming: Max loved this ball tube, he was so distracted by the balls that he didn't even care that the water was cold.

Eating: Max makes a lot of noise when he eats, and I was cracking up when I walked in to find Weston leaning over towards Max saying "neigh neigh neigh" mimicking Max's loud eating sounds.

Going for Walks: They have some nice trails out by their house and we had a good time exploring the trails and counting all the bird houses along the way.

Story time

Lots of pool time: Highlands Ranch has some really fun rec centers. We had a good time trying them out.

Alison and Travis took us to go see the Red Rocks Amphitheater. Because there was a concert, we didn't actually get to see the theater, but we got to hear them practice during a sound check which was even better. The sound was amazing!

After Red Rocks we headed to Boulder to see all the freaky street people, but just before this guy shoved his body into a tiny box, the rain started to come down hard, so we didn't get to finish the show.

Max climbed into my suitcase to help me pack.

We had so much fun in Colorado all week. Thank you again to Chelsey, Eric and Weston for letting us stay with you. Max misses all the Weston attention, and misses the ball pillows in his crib and having a basketball hoop just outside his bedroom. Thanks to Alison and Travis for showing us a good time too. We had a lot of fun hanging out and can't wait to come back again in October!

How fun! Max sure looks cute sitting in the airplane chair all by himself. He is growing up fast!
