Happy Fourth of July!! + Bad Mother Moment

I love this picture of George and Max!! So patriotic :-)

I've decided that the Fourth of July is one of my most favorite holidays. I love the warm weather, BBQ's, being with family and friends, and of course the fireworks! Plus, it brings back fun memories for George and me since exactly four years ago we made our own fireworks (had our 1st kiss) after the Sugar House firework show. And this was after we had stayed up talking in his truck for five hours the night before. It was like something magical was in the air that weekend! I hope we will talk about and relive those memories every year for the rest of our lives.
Mom and Max

To celebrate the Fourth this year, we decided to take Max up to snowbird and hike up to the Tram. It was actually a really fun hike, and there was a nice cool breeze the whole time, but there was a lot of now near the top which kind of made it tricky.
At the top of the trail, we walked through the cool tunnel that goes all the way over to the Alta resort on the other side of the mountain. The view was amazing!
And the best part was, after all that hard hiking, we got a free ride down on the ski lift. It was so fun, but i think maybe a little cold for Max. He wasn't a fan.

Now, for the first of I'm sure many more bad mother moments to come; We carried Max on our hike in the baby Bjorn, and he was such a good sport and pretty much slept the whole time. I made sure to cover up his little head with this hat, but wasn't thinking about his arms at all... it wasn't long after we got home, that we realized we had totally burned our sweet little baby's arms badly in the sun. The next day they were bright red, and blistering. I felt SOOOOOOOOOO bad. What was I thinking?? Anyway, you can kind of see the healing blisters in the picture below. I feel horrible, and have definietly learned my lesson for next time.

Oh, that is sad...I could see myself letting that happen too though. Poor little guy...he's got blisters AND now his mom will be a sunscreen nazi for the rest of his life:)

So sad! Poor Max...but everyone makes those mistakes, so don't feel too bad! And, now you'll never let one of your kiddos go out without sunscreen ever!
