11/11 Make a wish blow a kiss!!

I know it sounds weird, but 11 is a very lucky number for our family. George always used 11 as his sports number, and it was 11's that brought George and me together (or at least I like to think they did). Back before George and I started dating, I reached a point where I was starting to get fed up with the whole dating thing... going on date after date, and just not getting anywhere with anyone. My theme for the year 2006 was "Dream Big" (I know it's cheasy, but I totally had themes for myself, and usually a song to go along with the theme.) So, I started to dream big and go back to my junior high tactics of wishing on 11:11 "make a wish, blow a kiss" that I would meet the man of my dreams and recognize him when I saw him. And yes, I really did blow a kiss, usually at my computer at work, because I swear I always happened to glance at my computer screen right at 11:11.

Anyway, it wasn't long after I started doing that, that I met George. I still kept making wishes on 11:11 until one day I thought about it, and realized that my wish had probably already come true. So, when George and I talked about getting married, I told him that I had wished for him.

On November 11th (11/11) George planned to take me out on a date to dinner and dancing at the Murray Art Center. Just for fun, we decided to get all dressed up, so he put on his tux, and I put on a fancy dress. He showed up with 11 long stem roses (and some flowers for my only roommate out of 6 who didn't get flowers that day for some reason). We had a great night out together, and even met up with a couple of George's friends at the Murry Art Center (who happened to be in on helping with the night), when it started to get late, we decided to head out. While we were walking towards the door, George put a blind fold over my eyes, and took me for a ride around the block... when the blind fold came off, we were in a lit up gazebo, with candles all over the table, George's computer playing a picture slide show to the song "Dream Big" with pictures of us, and snow falling all around. It was so perfect. We danced and talked for a little while, and at exactly 11:11 on 11/11 George asked me to be his wife. I get a little twitterpated every time I think about it. And so far, saying yes, was the best decision I've ever made in my life.

So, happy 11/11 to everyone, don't forget to make a wish and blow a kiss today!

Man, I don't remember hearing about the 11/11 thing. All I can say was that his proposal was so thoughtful and romantic. I remember Ken and I thinking the candles would be blown out by the time you arrived due to the wind. You and George are such a great couple and I'm so glad you found each other! George is such a great guy!
